NOLA Week: the Auntie Saz

Posted on Apr 18, 2025

A little while ago, we were asked to put together a cocktail menu for a New Orleans themed party. It was a great excuse to take a deep dive into the tradition of one of the world’s great cocktail cities. New Orleans is perhaps second only to New York in influence on the cocktail’s early development; and when everyone else forgot about cocktails for a while, New Orleans kept the party going. With all of the New Orleans classics, plus a few of our own added to the mix, the menu proposal was bursting at the seams with fun and delicious recipes we couldn’t wait to serve. Alas, the menu didn’t get used. But we had a great time putting it together, and we can’t think of a better way of staying in the New Orlean spirit than sharing our favorite ideas with you.

The first one is a new twist on one of New Orleans’ most famous classics, the Sazerac. It’s called the Auntie Saz, and it’s our latest contribution to Culturescene magazine; so we’ll send you over there for the recipe.
