World’s Fair Cocktail Recipe
Sadly we weren’t able to join our friends on their recent return trip to Baldwin & Sons Trading Co; it’s a little bit of a journey for them, out to Woburn, but a much bigger one for us. Thankfully, Baldwin & Sons are quite generous with their recipes, printing them right in the menu. So, we mixed one at home and joined in remotely (and time-delayed) from DC. The favorite of the night was one we hadn’t even gotten to the first time. Called the World’s Fair, it’s smooth, and dark, and sweet, and spicy, and nutty.
Give it a try yourself.
And if you find yourself in Woburn, or even driving past (more common), stop by Baldwin & Sons, and send us the recipe so we can share in the pleasure.
World’s Fair Cocktail Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 oz rye (they used Willett 2 Year; we used Bulleit)
- 3/4 oz Amaro Montenegro
- 3/4 oz Punt e Mes (if you use another–undoubtedly less bitter–sweet vermouth, use more Amaro and less vermouth to keep the bitterness even)
- 1/2 oz Nux Alpina (a walnut liqueur)
- 1 dash whiskey barrel aged bitters
- lemon swath and cherry, for garnish
Instructions
- Stir liquid ingredients with ice until nicely chilled.
- Strain into a cocktail glass.
- Garnish.
