Summer Cocktail Recipe: Kentucky Summer Sangria

We like to greet the arrival of a new season with a special sangria for the occasion. In an act of possible over-exuberance, we actually welcomed winter with three different sangria recipes. As summer comes around the corner, it’s time for a new sangria. We were in a boozy mood when we created this one, using as much Bourbon as we do wine (though compensating with more soda than we’d usually add). And, of course, we felt it appropriate to invite as many fresh fruits as possible to this celebration of summer.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz white wine
  • 2 oz Bourbon
  • 1 dash peach bitters
  • .5 oz lemon juice
  • 2 oz blood orange soda (San Pellegrino or similar Italian soda)
  • 2 oz club soda
  • slice of lemon
  • slice of peach
  • slice of strawberry

Instructions

  • Pour the Bourbon, wine, peach bitters, and lemon juice into a highball glass and stir to mix.
  • Add ice.
  • Pour in the club soda and blood orange soda.
  • Drop in the fruit.
