Summer Cocktail Recipe: Kentucky Summer Sangria

We like to greet the arrival of a new season with a special sangria for the occasion. In an act of possible over-exuberance, we actually welcomed winter with three different sangria recipes. As summer comes around the corner, it’s time for a new sangria. We were in a boozy mood when we created¬†this one, using as much Bourbon as we do wine (though compensating with more soda than we’d usually add).¬†And, of course, we felt it appropriate to invite as many fresh fruits as possible to this celebration of summer.

  • 2 oz white wine
  • 2 oz Bourbon
  • 1 dash peach bitters
  • .5 oz lemon juice
  • 2 oz blood orange soda (San Pellegrino or similar Italian soda)
  • 2 oz club soda
  • slice of lemon
  • slice of peach
  • slice of strawberry

  • Pour the Bourbon, wine, peach bitters, and lemon juice into a highball glass and stir to mix.
  • Add ice.
  • Pour in the club soda and blood orange soda.
  • Drop in the fruit.
